## KiwiSaver first home withdrawal

If you have been with KiwiSaver for three or more years and meet the eligibility requirements, you may be able to withdraw your savings for your deposit.  You can withdraw everything except $1,000 and you must intend to live in the property, it can’t be used for an investment.

As the deposit will be one of the biggest hurdles in getting into that first home, having savings in KiwiSaver is a huge help.  This is how I got to the 20% on my first purchase, and was a real lifesaver as having the full deposit means the bank will give you more cashback and the best rate.   It can be a pretty simple process, but making sure this amount of money and your other savings do make up enough deposit to get the best deal out there.
